I got into drones, opened up the open source flight controller code, and got lost. So I'm building my own and explaining how it all works as I go.
An ESP32-S3 to run the flight controller and an MPU-9250 to feel which way is up. About seven dollars for both, and here's why they're a good fit.
Before reading a single byte from the IMU, I wrote a small layer that lets you swap sensors without touching the flight code. Here's why that came first.
